Her team developed PIA: Personal intelligent agents for type 2 diabetes, a connected care intelligent agent that uses NASA-licensed AI technology integrated with IoT device data to encourage healthy habits, detect at-risk behaviors and abnormalities, and alert care teams.

A Q&A with Aashima Pathak, Regional Director at HCL America, Inc. Her team developed My GluCoach, a holistic management solution that blends the roles of voice-based diabetes teacher, lifestyle coach, and personal assistant to serve the individual and specific needs of the patient.

A Q&A with Olu Ajilore, Co-Director, Adult/Neuroscience Research Track at University of Illinois at Chicago. His team developed DiaBetty, a virtual diabetes educator and at-home coach that is sensitive and responsive to the patient’s mood, enhancing patient skills for self-management.

On July 25-26, the five finalists convened at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, WA for the Innovators’ Boot Camp. During this two-day program the finalists gained new insight and perspectives that will inform their solutions as they compete for the $125,000 grand prize.
